Funeral services for John Amoth [sic], 84, are at 2 o'clock Thursday afternoon from the Witt chapel. Burial will be in the Highland Lutheran cemetery. The Rev. Vance Knutson will officiate.
Amoth died Monday, July 16, in Read township. He is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles Wilson, Elkader, and Mrs. Alex Pagen, Elgin.

John Sever Amoth, son of Sever and Ingabor Amoth, was born January 10, 1872, Highland township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died July 16, 1956, at the Clayton County Home after an illness of several months.
He received his education in the rural school and was a commercial fisherman at Red Wing, Minn., and a custodian of the park at Sunset Point, Wis., and he also farmed in Highland township, Clayton county, Iowa. From 1941 he had made his home at the Clayton County Home.
Mr. Amoth is survived by two sisters; Tillie, Mrs. Alexander Pagan, Elgin, and Olive, Mrs. Charles M. Wilson, Elgin, Iowa.
His parents preceded him in death and two sisters Anna (Mrs. Gust Hader) Elkader Julia (Mrs. Alex Asher) of Calif.
Funeral services were held from the Witt funeral chapel Thursday, July 19, at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Vance R. Knutsen officiating. Burial was in the Highland Lutheran cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Albert B. Erickson Jr., Chas A. Erickson, Lavern Dennler, Leslie Erickson.
Relatives from out-of-town were: Mr. and Mrs. Royce Murphy, Dundee: Mr. and Mrs. Charles Graff, and Stan Erickson, Alburnette, Iowa.
