Mrs. Bertha Wentz Becker, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Chris Wentz was born Nov. 07, 1872, on a farm near Elkport and died at her home in Littleport on July 12, 1956, from a stroke.

Mrs. Becker received her education in the rural school and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church at Elkport. She lived her entire life around Littleport and Elkport.

She was married to Henry Becker at Elkader in 1911 by the late Rev. C. H. Franke of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1912. She is survived by her daughter, Ethel of Littleport, and a stepson, Herman, of Elkport, two grandchildren and one brother, Chris Wentz of Elkport.

Funeral services were held at the Witt Funeral home Sunday, July 15, at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at the Communia cemetery.

Pallbearers were: George Chettinger, Henry Rodas, Jim Darrah, Ray Hughes, Don Liddy and Clarence Beck.
