The death of Loyd C. Emerson, 80, occurred at his home Wednesday morning, July 04, after an attack of coronary thrombosis. He had been in failing health for several years.

Born at Strawberry Point June 01, 1876, he was the son of Frank W. and Lucy Joy Emerson.

On May 09, 1900, he was married to Miss Mary Ann O'Dea. They celebrated their golden wedding at their home in Volga in 1950. For a number of years following their marriage they lived at Strawberry Point, later moving to Volga.

Surviving are his wife and six children: two sons, T. F. Emerson, Elkader, and Oliver of Waterville; four daughters Mrs. John H. (Beatrice) Whitney, Denver, Colo,, Mrs. Harry (Josephine) Carnicle, Sioux Falls, S.D., Mrs. Don (Lucy) Leete, Volga, and Mrs. Orin (Kathryn) Yeager, Lakewood, Colo.

One son, Lt. James F. Emerson, lost his life in World War II.

There are also 19 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, who survive.

Funeral services were held Friday at Sacred Heart church at 9:30 a.m. The Rev. Karl J. Klein, pastor, was celebrant of the requiem high mass and officiated at the grave in St. Mary's cemetery at Strawberry Point, where interment was made.

Casket bearers were Selmer Olson, R. C. (Bud) Wolf, and Roy E. Candee of Volga and C. E. Lang, Henry Kamoss and W. F. Barnes, Strawberry Point.

Among the relatives and friends from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mrs. John H. Whitney, Denver, Colo.; Mrs. Orin Yeager, Lakewood, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Emerson and family, Waterville; Mrs. Harry Carnicle and Mary, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Davis, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Carnicle, Mr. and Mrs. Don Carnicle, Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Edmans, Sioux Falls, S.D,; Mr. and Mrs. Vern Troupe, Clarksville; Mr. and Mrs. John Frey and family, Fayette; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Schriver, Strawberry Point; C. F. Neylan, Elkader; Mrs. John Erickson, Wadena; Mrs. P. H. Quinn and Mrs. W. F. Barnes, Strawberry Point.
