Funeral services for LeRoy Hines, 83, were held at the Methodist Church in Strawberry Point on Saturday afternoon, June 09, with the Rev. Wayne L. Carlson officiating. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery with the Gill funeral service in charge of arrangements.

LeRoy Hines was born in Lodomillo township east of Strawberry Point on July 26, 1872, the son of Thomas and Louisa Hines. He received a rural school education and on February 10, 1893 was married to Olive Collins. He farmed in this area until his retirement. He died Thursday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Soll Childers, near Strawberry Point following an extended illness. He was a member of the Methodist church.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Soll (Floy) Childers; a grandson, Vallie Childers of Strawberry Point; a sister, Addie Sauerbry of Greeley and a great-granddaughter, Sue Stearns, of Oelwein. He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and his wife.
