Helen Adelia McGrath, daughter of Eliza and Alanson Partridge, was born May 22, 1873, at Argyle, Wis., and died March 23, 1956, at Schroud's nursing home at Sun Prairie, Wis.
She was united in marriage to Dr. W. J. McGrath on Jan. 12, 1898.
Mrs. McGrath came to Elkader in 1898, and resided here until September, 1954, when she entered the nursing home in Sun Prairie, Wis. She had been ill since October, 1946.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1946. Survivors include a son, Malcolm, and daughter-in-law, Dorothe C. of Wauwatosa, Wis., and four grandchildren, Brian, Michael, Terence and Mrs. Patricia de Nino.
Mrs. McGrath was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church of Elkader.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 26, 1956, at 9:00 a.m. from the Witt funeral chapel and at 9:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. D. A. Gorman officiating. Burial was in the St. Joseph's cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Norbert Niemeyer, Alfred Bin, Leroy Ehrhardt, Lyle Barthel, Lee Niemeyer and Clarence Woods.
