Clayton County Register, 16 Feb. 1956.

Cora Amanda Kill, the daughter of Peter and Mary Jane Kill, was born Dec. 06, 1871, on a farm in Boardman township and died in the hospital at McGregor, Feb. 11, 1956, after an illness of 19 days, at the age of 84 years, two months and five days.

Miss Kill taught in the rural schools for a number of years to earn enough money to continue her studies. She attended Iowa State Teachers college in Cedar Falls, and the Normal Training school in Minnesota. She taught in Minnesota for over twenty-five years. Since her retirement from her chosen profession, she has been farming the home place in Boardman township where she was born.

After the death of her brother John's wife, she took his two children, Ray Kill, now of Littleport, and Ruth, Mrs. Harold Miller of Elkader, into her home and raised them. When her brother John became ill shortly after his wife's death, she took him into her home and cared for him until his death.

Miss Kill was a member of the Royal Neighbors lodge. She is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Leona Mariske and Miss Lottie Kill, both of Minnesota.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, February 14, at 2:00 p.m. in the Witt funeral chapel with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.
