Carrie B. Davis was born August 07, 1894, in Chase county, Nebr. Her parents were David L. and Isabelle Gould Adams.
The family moved to Volga in 1903, and she spent her girlhood days in the vicinity of Volga.
On July 16, 1926, she was married to Reid M. Davis at Nashua, Iowa. This union was blessed with one son, Donald Rae Davis.
After their marriage they lived six years at Mederville where Mr. Davis engaged in his occupation of barbering. After this they came to Volga where they spent the remaining days of their lives.
She was preceded in death by her husband and parents, two brothers, Price and Charley, and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Charley Adams.
She attended the Gospel meetings held in Volga in the year 1941. She was awakened to see her need of a savior in these meetings, and was saved by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal savior Sept. 26, 1941.
Her death is mourned by one son Donald Rae (now in the U.S. Navy); one step-son, Cecil Davis of Hazleton, Iowa; four brothers, Walter of Imperial, Nebr., Omar of New Hampton, her twin brother, Carl, of Wauneta, Nebr., Fred of Waterloo; three sisters, Mrs. Herman Baars, Mrs. Anson Randall and Freda, all of Volga; a number of nieces and nephews and many friends.
She took sick in July, was taken to Iowa City for medical treatment in October, and after a short time at home was taken to Manchester hospital on Jan. 03, and died Jan. 28.
She attained the age of 61 years, 5 months and 21 days.
Services were conducted Monday at the Blake and Gill chapel, with L. H. Brandt and Henry Wahls of Garnavillo in charge. Casket bearers were: Hugh Tenney, Ronald Moore, Willard Crandall and Roy Candee. Mrs. Howard Taylor and Mrs. Harry Reynolds arranged the flowers. Burial was in the Ross cemetery, Cox Creek.
