Mrs. Mary Saacke was born in Betzinen, Wittenberg, Germany, April 8th, 1832. She was united in marriage to Wm. Saacke at St. Louis, Mo., Oct. 1863, and came to McGregor in July, 1864, which has since been their home.

Five children were born to this union, four surviving their mother, Louis, Wm., August and Mrs. Louisa Klein; one daughter having preceded her to yonder shore.

Mrs. Saacke has been sick for about a year. Saturday evening, May 23, she quietly passed away, at the ripe age of 64 years, one month and 15 days.

Dearest mother thou has left us,
And thy loss we deeply feel;
But 'tis God that has bereft us-
He can all our sorrows heal.
Yet again we hope to meet thee,
When the day of life has fled,
When in heaven with joy to greet thee,
Where no farewell tears are shed.

Note: The 1937 Death Certificate of her daugher Louise Klein named her as nee Mary Kirchbaum
