George Marion Johnson, son of Jacob and Margaret Bunnell Johnson, was born May 20, 1881, at Granville, Ill., and died Nov. 09, 1958, at his home in Littleport of a heart attack. He had been in ill health for some time.
On Dec. 24, 1902, he was married to Mary Welch at Granville, Ill. They made their home in Granville until 1912, when they moved to Iowa, making their home in several communities, and the past three years at Littleport.
Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife and three children, Mr. Elmer (Esther) Ashline, Littleport; Mrs. Melvin (Jennie) Jenks, Oelwein; and Alva Johnson, Cedar Rapids; one brother, Jacob Johnson, Granville, Ill., six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11, at 1:30 p.m. at the Witt Chapel, Elkader, with the Rev. Clare Biegler officiating. Burial was in Union cemetery, Littleport.
Pallbearers were Don Newman, Otto Schmelzer, Richard Clinton, Fred Scheer, Donald Liddy and Walter Stone.
