Funeral services were held for Jacob Frederick Hansel Sunday, Oct. 26, 1958, at 1 p.m. at the Witt funeral chapel to the Bethel church near Colesburg at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Bethel cemetery. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated.

Jacob Frederick Hansel, son of James and Barbara Tinkey Hansel, was born June 12, 1885, at Osterdock, Iowa, and died at his home in Elkader Friday morning, Oct. 24, at the age of 73 years, 4 months and 12 days.

Mr. Hansel had suffered a heart attack last July and was taken to the hospital at Prairie du Chien, Wis., but after a short stay returned to his home.

He received his education at the rural school and was confirmed at the Bethel Church near Colesburg.

On Dec. 24, 1910, he was married to Cora Hyde at the Fairview Church near Colesburg. Mr. Hansel spent his younger years farming and lived in Garber and Littleport before coming to Elkader in 1943.

He is survived by his wife and seven children: Mrs. Arthur (Hilda) Harris, Oelwein; Donald Hansel, Guttenberg; Mrs. Delphus (Carmen) Palmer, Hopkington, N.H.; Mrs. Richard (Iola) Kreple, Dubuque; Paul and Charles Hansel, Elkader; and Mrs. John C. (Jean) Maehl, St. Olaf; besides 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Kulper, Colesburg, Mrs. John Kulper, Guttenberg, and Mrs. Thomas Quinn, Arcadia, Fla.
