Layfayette Bigelow died at the home of his daughter Mrs. Sears, at Chattanooga, Tenn., on Saturday last, the 29th.

The old settlers of Clayton County will remember Lafayette Bigelow. For years he was proprietor of the Boardman House at Elkader, and owned and ran the well know Bigelow farm in Giard township, and but a few years ago kept the Evans House in this city.

He represented this county in the 5th and 6th general assemblies. He was about 68 years of age.

Mr. Bigelow was a genial and courteous gentleman, a friend and companion with whom it was a pleasure to be acquainted. His host of old friends in this county will be sorry to learn of his death. - McGregor Times

Last Tuesday the funeral of Mr. Lafayette Bigelow was held at the residence of his sister, Mrs. A.C. Bush, at Tioga. Mr. Bigelow died at Chattanooga, Tenn., on the previous Saturday. He was about sixty years of age and was well known in Tioga, where he had spent much time in recent years.

Note: Burial is in Evergreen cemetery, Tioga Co., PA. His gravestone is engraved with DOB 11/18/1822. His 1st wife was Lucinda (d. 1864) and his 2nd wife was Julia Swan.
