Clayton County Register, 15 May 1958.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 1958, at 2 p.m. in the Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church at Elkader for Mrs. Ida Benschneider, who died May 08 in the General hospital at Prairie du Chien. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated and burial was at the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Ida Benschneider was the daughter of Henry and Wilhelmina Schultz Lundt and was born June 8, 1877, on a farm near Elkport.

She was baptized and confirmed and attended the Elementary school. April 10, 1901, she was united in marriage to Henry Benschneider of Littleport, at the home of her parents, and they moved to Elkader and resided there until the death of Mr. Benschneider in 1955.

Mrs. Benschneider then moved to Colorado Springs, Colo., living in her home near her son, returning twice to visit friends at Elkader.

In March this year her health failed and she wished to return to Elkader. Her son brought her back April 8, and placed her in the hospital at Prairie du Chien.

Mrs. Benschneider was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed Church and Frauen Verein in her earlier life and sewed in the Dorcas Society until her eyesight began to fail. Her great interest was in quilting, fancy needlework and gardening.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, who died in infancy, and her husband.

She is survived by her son Leroy and his wife and two grandchildren, Bonnie and Benjamin, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Walke of Guttenberg and Mrs. William Steen of Strawberry Point, also nieces and nephews.
