Mrs. Emma Meyers, daughter of Peter and Hanna Borman Broel, was born December 24, 1872, in Cox Creek township, Clayton county, Iowa, and died at Prairie du Chien, Wis., March 13, 1958, at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 18 days.
Mrs. Meyers was united in marriage to Chris Joseph Meyers at Elkader on April 23, 1893. After their marriage they moved onto a farm near Communia where they lived for 57 years.
From 1950 to 1953 they lived in Strawberry Point where her husband died on April 23, 1951. From 1953 to 1956 she resided in Delhi and in 1957 moved to Elkader.
About a month ago Mrs. Meyers suffered a stroke and was taken to Prairie du Chien hospital where she remained until her death.
Mrs. Meyers was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and a daughter, Maimie, who died at six months, and Lawrence, who died December 14, 1948.
She is survived by two children, Mrs. Harry (Viola) Frietag, Elkader; and Avery Meyers, Lamont; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Funeral services were held Sunday, March 16, at Witt's funeral chapel at 1:30 p.m. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated with Mrs. Leon Welsh, organist, and Miss Nancy Jensen, soloist. Burial was at Strawberry Point.
Pallbearers were: Dale Tieden, Wm. Muench, Orville Stannard, Earl Whittle, Frank Wacker and Vincent Stence.
