Clayton County Register, 06 Mar. 1958.
Funeral services will be held Thursday for Lund E. Marble, 63, Volga City man who was found dead in his car, on the Volga-Elkader road, early Tuesday morning, March 04. Services will be at the Volga Methodist church at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Burial will be in Hill Crest cemetery in Volga.
Marble has been employed at the Miller Ice Cream company in Elkader for a number of years and it had been his custom to drive from his home in Volga to his work during the early morning hours.
Tuesday morning Harry Larson, star mail route carrier, was on his way from Elkader to Volga when he noticed Marble's car parked at the side of the highway near the Bennington road intersection. When he stopped to investigate he found Marble sitting behind the wheel dead. The discovery was made at about 7 o'clock.
Larson telephoned from the Howard Meyers farm for Sheriff Forrest Fisher. Fisher summoned Dr. Grant of Volga, who pronounced death due to heart attack.
Marble was born December 27, 1894. He is survived by his wife, Florence, and two daughters, Mrs. Harlan Hedeman of Elkader and Mrs. Joseph Poole of Elizabeth, N.J.
