Funeral services for Charles Rodas, 65, were held at the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point Monday afternoon, March 03, with the Rev. Paul Bauer conducting the services. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.
Charles Rodas was born on June 09, 1892, in Clayton county, the son of Charles and Isabelle Hageman Rodas. He received a grade school education and served in the infantry in World War I. On March 04, 1924, he married Fannie Ross at Dubuque. The couple farmed in Lodomillo township east of Strawberry Point until just a few weeks ago when they moved to Strawberry Point. Mr. Rodas took his own life late Friday on the farm he had operated for many years and which is now tenanted by his son, Donald. It is said that he had been despondent recently.
Survivors include his wife of Strawberry Point; three daughters and two sons. The children are: Mrs. Arthur (Phyliss) O'Rourke, Dubuque; Mrs. Theodore (Elaine) Roth, Guttenberg, Donald, Lowell and Betty Lou, Strawberry Point. Two brothers, Frank Rodas, Strawberry Point and Fred Rodas, Mason City, also survive along with seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters and a brother.
