John Joseph Hennessy, 87, died on Monday Feb. 17, 1958, at the St. Joseph Mercy hospital in Dubuque following a long illness. Born in Derby, Conn., on March 26, 1870, he was the son of John and Anna (Cullen) Hennessy. He farmed for many years in the Strawberry Point area and for the past several years has lived at St Anthony's home in Dubuque. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. Survivors include two brothers, several nieces and nephews and several grand-nieces and nephews. The brothers are: Dr. Felix Hennessy of Calmar, and Ed F. Hennessy of Arvada, Colo.

The rosary was said on Tuesday evening at 9:00 and on Wednesday evening at 8:00 p.m. at the Gill chapel in Strawberry Point. Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 20 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic church in Strawberry Point with the Rev. Robert Palen officiating. Interment was in St. Mary's Catholic cemetery at Strawberry Point.
