Funeral services for Mrs. John Engelhardt, 76, were held Thursday, Feb. 20, at 1:00 p.m. in the Schultz funeral home and at 2:00 p.m. in St. Paul's Lutheran church in Monona. The Rev. R. C. Schlueter officiated at the services. Burial was in the Lutheran cemetery.
Mrs. Engelhardt died Feb. 17, at the Postville hospital where she had been taken after a serious heart attack.
As Reka, daughter of John and Fredericka Glawe Draves, she was born on March 14, 1881, in Germany. When six months old she came to America with her parents who settled near Farmersburg where she was educated.
She was married to John Engelhardt on August 24, 1899, at Farmersburg. The couple farmed for many years before retiring in Monona.
She was a member of Stt. Paul's Lutheran church.
In addition to her husband she is survived by three sons, Alvin of Monona; Harvey of Luana; Philmon of Waukon; two sisters, Mrs. William Gruel of Monona; Mrs. Henry Gruel of Farmersburg; and several grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two infant sons, a sister, Mrs. Henry (Bertha) Harnack who died in 1934.
