Funeral services for George Wallace (Wally) Brown, 86, were held at the First Methodist church in Strawberry Point Friday afternoon, Dec. 27, with the Rev. Robert L. Smith conducting the services. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery. Mr. Brown died at his home in Strawberry Point on Wednesday, Dec. 25, following a long illness.

George W. Brown was born at Charles City, Iowa, On March 15, 1871, the son of George L. and Martha McNeill Brown. On March 15, 1897, he was married to Bertha Ann Stocks at Ledyard, Iowa. The couple farmed until they retired and have lived in Strawberry Point since that time. Mr. Brown was a member of the Masonic lodge and had been affiliated with the United Brethren church. Earlier in his life he had held public office as justice of the peace.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include a son, Roy W. Brown of Strawberry Point; a sister, Mrs. Mary M. Walker of Independence; two granddaughters and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, and four brothers.
