Mrs. Wm. J. Roach, nee Minnie Hannon, died at her home in Elkader on Dec. 24 at 3:15 p.m., at the age of 86 years nine months and 21 days.

She was born March 03, 1871, in Boardman township, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hannon. Her husband, Wm. J. Roach, died in 1947 and a son Clem in 1927. She moved to her home in Elkader from the farm in 1943.

She is survived by six children: Mrs. Carl (Marie) Ehrhardt, Elkader; Mrs. Wm. (Ann) Boland, Long Beach, Calif.; Vincent, Baraboo, Wis.; Mrs. Carl (Zita) Etteldorf, Monona; LaVern, Lemont, Ill., and Paul at home. Also, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. John (Ella) Shea, Volga. Her parents, six brothers and one sister preceded her in death.

Mrs. Roach had been active and around in her home until a week before her death, when she suffered a stroke, followed by pneumonia.

She was a very kind and considerate mother, friend and neighbor and will be sadly missed by all. Her funeral was held Friday, Dec. 27, 1957, at 9:30 at St. Joseph's church; the requiem mass was said by the Rt. Rev. Msgr. Daniel A Gorman, and burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Six nephews were pallbearers; Gerald Feeney, John and Leo Roach, Edward Finley, Don and Loy Shea. Another nephew, Ralph Feeney, of Strawberry Point conducted the funeral.

Those from a distant who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Roach, Sue, Mary Jane and Jim, Baraboo, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Roach and Barbara, Lemont, Ill. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Mulroney and Mary Ann, Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Gene Sandor and Ann, Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Ellis Thompson, Fayette, and Mr. and Mrs. Vic Kalb, Oelwein.
