Oldest resident of Garber, Mrs. Matilda Strube died December 14, at the age of 88 years, nine months and 14 days.

Matilda Jennings was born February 18, 1864, in Clayton county.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Paul Kitterer of Elkader Tuesday Dec. 16, at 2 o'clock from the residence in Garber where she lived for the past 70 years or since her marriage on June 15, 1882 to Rudolph C. Strube.

Five children were born to them. Surviving are three children: Mrs. H. W. Brown (Grace), John H. Strube both of Alhambra, Calif., Mrs. Morris Bowman (Bertha) of near Garber, eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1922. Two sons Edward and Ray also preceded her in death.

Burial was in Mount Harmony cemetery near Garber. Pallbearers were Wm. Kuehl, Arthur Willman, Oscar Cole, George Amling, Wm. Zittergruen and Leonard Moser.

The organist was Jean Reinhart and the singer Lyle Kuehl of Elkader.

Among the Relatives from out of town who attended the funeral were: Mrs. Minnie Strube, Mr. and Mrs. Merle Strube, and Donald Strube all of Estherville; Mrs. Belle Shaffer, Mrs. Joe G__mes of Colesburg; Mrs. Laura Corson, Mrs. John Ortman of Guttenberg; Mrs. Carl Tuecke of Garnavillo; Mr. and Mrs. Charley Baker, Eugene and Arthur of Strawberry Point; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Niehaus of Millville; Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Harnish, Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. Royce Murphy of Dundee; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Grimm, Masonville.
