Funeral services for Mrs. Ella Schmidt were held at the Witt funeral chapel Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock and at the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church at 2 p.m. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Burial was in the East Side cemetery.

Mrs. Schmidt died at San Antonio, Texas, Thursday, Dec. 04, 1952. She had been in failing health for the past year and had been confined to her bed since last August. She had reached the age of 80 years and twenty-two days at the time of her death.

Ella Beers was born in Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa, Nov. 14, 1872, the daughter of Christian and Marie Schori Beers. She was united in marriage on January 02, 1895, by the late Rev. F. W. Seifert, to Robert Schmidt at Elkader, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Mrs. Florence Bente and Col. A. H. Schmidt, both of San Antonio, Texas, and Julien who died April 12, 1924.

Her husband preceded her in death on July 13, 1918. In 1931 Mrs. Schmidt moved to San Antonio, Texas, which has since been her home. She was a member of Almo Heights Presbyterian church of that city and also the P.E.O. sisterhood. While residing in Elkader Mrs. Schmidt was a member of the Peace Evangelical and Reformed church and the Women's Guild of which she served as president, a member of the church council also of the building and solicitation committee for the present church, and taught Sunday school.

She is survived by her son and daughter, Col. A. H. Schmidt and Mrs. Florence Bente, and grandson, Robert Schmidt, of San Antonio; also two sisters, Mrs. W. H. Ebendorf of Topeka, Kan., and Mrs. Ed Gehring, Wadena, Iowa.

Preceding her in death were her husband and son, also two brothers and two sisters.
