CLAYTON: Funeral services were held Saturday morning from the Stegor Funeral home to St. Mary's church for Joseph M. Kainz, 71, who died late Wednesday afternoon after an illness of six weeks.
The services were conducted by Rev. Louis Grunewald, pastor of St. Mary's, and burial was in the Guttenberg city cemetery. Casket bearers for the services were Milo Murphy, Verni Bahls, Clarence Lynch, Reuben Thiese, Kenneth McGuine and Leo Nigg.
Mr. Kainz, who formerly lived in Elkport-Garber community and was a director of the now-closed Farmers Savings bank in Garber, had been living on a farm three miles north of town. He was born in Austria September 16, 1881, and came to America when he was eleven years old.
On November 14, 1905, he married Mary Kriese at Guttenberg.
In addition to Mrs. Kainz, he is survived by a son, Marvin, of Elkader and a daughter, Mrs. Lorimer Helen Perry of Garnavillo, as well as by two grandchildren, two brothers, John of Garnavillo and Frank of Elkader, and a sister, Mrs. Rose Funk of Guttenberg.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
