Funeral services for Dr. J. P. Donlon, 76, were held at the McTaggart funeral home at 9:30 o'clock, Saturday morning and at St. Joseph's church, Elkader, at 10 o'clock.

The Rev. Father Luke Donlon, of Monona, a brother of the doctor, read the Requiem high mass. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. B. H. Skahill, pastor of St. Joseph's church, Elkader, preached the sermon. Present in the Sanctuary were: the Reverend Francis J. Dunn, Nativity church, The Rev. William Michael, Sacred Heart church, Dubuque; the Rev. Francis J. Phelan, St. Mary's church, McGregor.

The Right Rev. Msgr. B H. Skahill presided at the graveside service.

Dr. Donlon died at his home in Elkader at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 1952. He had been in ill health for the past year.

Joseph Patrick Donlon was born in Highland township March 25, 1876, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Donlon, pioneer farmer of that township. He attended St. Joseph's school, Elkader, and the University of Iowa, where he was graduated from the school of Dentistry in 1897. He returned to Elkader where he practiced for 52 years. Poor health forced him to retire in 1950.

In 1947 Dr. Donlon attended the 50th reunion of his graduating class and was presented with a 50 year gold pin.

On July 02, 1900, he was united in marriage to Amie Elizabeth Meyer who preceded him in death of February 17, 1942.

Dr. Donlon was a member of St. Joseph's church, Elkader, the Catholic Order of Foresters and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sons, Lucian and Jack B., and a daughter, Mrs. Amy Jo McDonnell, all of Elkader; a brother, the Rev. Father Luke Donlon, Monona; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Hoover, Elkader; Mrs. Ellen Foran, North Oxford, Mass.; also eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Pall bearers were six nephews: Arthur and Stephen Donlon, Joseph and Arthur Hoover, Thomas Donlon and William Donlon.

Donlon, Dr. and Mrs. John Donlon, all of Chicago; Dr. and Mrs. Luke Faber and sons Dennis and Luke, Dubuque; Mrs. Mary Donlon, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Donlon, Decorah; Dr. Anthony Lake, Marion; Victor Williams, Coggon, Mr. and Mrs. Franz Appleman, Clermont; the Rev. Father Luke Donlon, Miss Christine Auholt, Mrs. Ryan, Monona; Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Boland, Cedar Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. George Boland, Marion; Mrs. Charles Updegraff, Des Moines.
