Charmiean Harvey was the oldest of the nine children of Delbert and Stella Towsles Harvey. She was born in Sperry township Feb. 23, 1893, and grew to maturity at the farm home, attending district school and assisting in the work of the busy household.
On Feb. 24, 1917, she was united in marriage to Edward Everitt, a young man who had come from England a few years before. They made their home in Fayette county during the first eight years of their married life. Then Ted and Charm, as they have been commonly called, located on a farm in Sperry township two and one half miles southwest of Volga. This was their home until their retirement from farming in December 1942. Since that they have resided in Volga. She died Wednesday afternoon, June 11, following a long illness.
Her husband; her only child, Arthur Everitt of Volga, his wife and two sons survive. She also leaves the following brothers and sisters: Vesta, Mrs. James Hummel of Elkader; Reuben Harvey of Dalles, Ore.; Jessie, Mrs. F. A. Dunn, and Alma, Mrs. Harvey Gasper, both of Dallas, Ore.; Jessie, Mrs. F. A. Dunn, and Alma, Mrs. Harry Gasper, both of Snohomish, Wash.; Alfred Harvey of Strawberry Point, and Alta, Mrs. Jack Goldsmith of Greeley.
The funeral was held at the Methodist church on Friday afternoon with her pastor, the Rev. Floyd R. Maynard, officiating. Mrs. W. K. Oldfather accompanied the quartet, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Grether and Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Kohls, as they sang "In The Garden," and "The Old Rugged Cross."
Burial was made in Hill Crest cemetery just west of Volga. The casketbearers were Vane Oldfather, Lyle Jennings, Walter Roys, Leslie Wheeler, Glen Moats and Mellors Roys.
