Services for Joseph Meyer, 75, were held at the Witt funeral chapel, Elkader, at 9:30 a.m. Monday, May 26, and at St. Joseph's Catholic church at 10 a.m. The Rev. Robert B. Ferring officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.

Mr. Meyer died at his home in Elkader early Friday morning, May 23, 1952. Death was due to a stroke.

Joseph Francis Meyer was born in Volga township, June 30, 1877, the son of Alex and Elizabeth Meyer.

June 20, 1900, at Dubuque, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Mary Hohman. For three years they farmed near Elkport and then moved to a farm in Read township near Elkader. They retired and moved to Elkader six years ago. Mr. Meyer was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic church, Elkader, and also the Catholic Order of Foresters.

He is survived by his wife and two daughters, Miss Mildred E. Meyer, Dubuque, and Mrs. M. E. (Marcella) Koppenhaver, Elkader; also two grandchildren.

Pallbearers were: Leo Boland, Lorenzo F. Buckman, Earl Matt, Marcellus Meyer, Henry Berns, William Freitag.

Relatives from a distance who attended the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Matt, Castalia; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Matt, Edgewood; Dr. and Mrs. Palmer, Guttenberg; Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Hohman, Mrs. Tillie Kriebs, Mr. and Mrs. James McLain, Mrs. Alma Hall, all of Elkport; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Fritz, Mr. and Mrs. Reynold Scheffert, Mrs. Gertee Meyer, all of Garber; Mrs. Ed. Berns, Strawberry Point; Hubert Zapf and Mrs. Frank Uriell, Garnavillo.
