Funeral services for Mrs. Ray Zearley were held Nov. 03, from the Ryan funeral home at Edgewood at 1:30 and at St. John's Evangelical and Reformed church in Garber at 2:30 by the Rev. Kitterer of Elkader.
Pearl (Henry) Zearley was the daughter of John Henry and Bertha Gruel, born January 01, 1892 in Garnavillo and died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 1951, in her home in Garber at the age of 59 years 10 months.
Mrs. Zearley spent her childhood and young womanhood in Garnavillo, where she attended the public school and was baptized and confirmed in St. Paul's Lutheran church.
On Feb. 09, 1918 she was united in marriage to Ray Zearley of Garber at Garnavillo by the Rev, K. Braun. Four children were born to them. Mr. and Mrs. Zearley made their home in Garber where she died after a lingering illness of the past year but became seriously ill in the past four months.
Survivors are her husband Ray, four children, Ralph of Edgewood; Lowell, Ames; Eunice, Waterloo, and Pfc. Donald Zearley serving in Korea in the Army. One grandson, Jeffry Zearley, also two brothers and one sister, William, Elkader; Raymond, McGregor, and Mrs. Florence Harris, McGregor.
Burial was made in Hansel cemetery near Garber. Pallbearers were: Anton Smith, Fritz Wistrick, Oscar Cole, George Amling, Frank Smith, and Cedric Hansel. William Kuehl had charge of the flowers.
