Funeral services for Mrs. Etta Stone of Edgewood were held from the funeral home to the Edgewood Methodist church at 2:30, Thursday afternoon. The Rev. Laurence Marshburn was in charge of the services. Pallbearers were Jack Miller, Merle Pilgrim, Austin Ash, Wilbur Gearhart, Dale Stone and Clay Ash. Music was furnished by Mrs. Jack Miller, who sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Rock of Ages." She was accompanied by Miss Forward . Burial was in the family lot in the Greenhill cemetery north of Edgewood.
Etta Marie Orcutt Stone was born in Delaware county in the town of York, on Dec. 12, 1862. She died Oct. 29, 1951, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. W. J. Miller.
Etta was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Orcutt. She lived at York until twelve years of age, then the family moved to Edgewood. There she finished her education. She was married to Jackson Stone Dec. 21, 1881. They lived in Delaware and Clayton counties, Iowa, all their life except for about 15 years which they spent in the south due to her health.
Mr. and Mrs. Stone were the parents of six children, four of whom survive. Mr. Stone died April 29, 1946, after 64 years of married life. Following his death, Mrs. Stone made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Miller, of Edgewood.
Mrs. Stone is survived by four children, 20 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Myra Lain, Shawnee, Okla.; numerous nieces and nephews.
Her surviving children are; Ralph Stone, Mrs. W. J. (Ellen) Miller, both of Edgewood; Mrs. Amos (Vera) Price, Wichita, Kan.; and Mrs. A. C. (Leta) Dale, Astoria, Ore. She was preceded in death by her husband and two sons, Alva, who died as a youth and another son who died in infancy.
