GUTTENBERG: Final rites for Charles Harnish, 72, were held on Wednesday from the Trinity Lutheran church.

The Rev. H. Frohn of Elkader officiated and burial was made in the city cemetery.

The Tuecke funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harnish died suddenly at his home on Sunday, Sept. 30. He had been a patient at Mercy hospital the past three weeks, after having an operation. He was born on Aug. 07, 1879 in Jefferson township, on a farm; the son of William Harnish and Anna Walter.

On April 09, 1907, he was united in marriage to Louise Borcherding at St. John's Lutheran church at Guttenberg. They lived on a farm until about five years ago when they retired and came to live in town. Three children were born to this union: Lydia, Irene and Bernita.

Mr. Harnish is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. Lydia Finley, Mrs. Howard (Irene) Miller and Mrs. Harry (Bernita) Reth all of Guttenberg: besides 10 grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Two brothers and one sister also survive, Edward of Guttenberg, William of Nashua, Iowa, Mrs. Albert (Amanda) Heise of Charles City.

These nephews acted as pallbearers: Wilber Heise of Charles City, Elmer Borcherding, Melvin Borcherding, Edward Borcherding, Delbert Borcherding and Albert Borcherding.

Dorene Duwe, Dorothy Walters, Edwin Walters and Vernin Walters sang the songs, "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Jesus Lead Thou On."
