Funeral services for Eugene Connor were held at St. Joseph's church in Elkader, Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 1951, at 10 o'clock. The Rt. Rev. Msgr. B. H. Skahill officiated. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
Mr. Connor died at his home in Elkader early Sunday morning, Sept. 09, 1951. He had been in failing health since early spring. He had reached the age of 87 years, 8 months and 16 days, at the time of his death.
Eugene Connor was born December 23, 1863, at Beaver Dam, Wis., the son of Owen and Mary O. Connor. When a small child, he moved with his parents, to Boardman township, Clayton county, Iowa, where he received his education in the rural schools near his home.
On Feb. 14, 1893, at Elkader, he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Heins of Monona. They went to housekeeping on a farm four miles west of Elkader, where they lived until 1926, when they retired and moved to Elkader. His wife preceded him in death in 1933. He was a member of St. Joseph's church in Elkader.
He is survived by four daughters and one son, Mrs. Mary Connor, at home, Mrs. Edward Brill, Mrs. Edwin Vik, Mrs. Merle Mork, all of Milwaukee, Wis., Lester Connor, Monona, one sister, Julia Connor, Oelwein, also ten grandchildren.
Preceding him in death besides his wife were three children, Ella, Minnie and Eugene, and one grandchild.
Pallbearers were six grandchildren: Robert Vik, Donald Vik, Eugene Connor, Arthur Mai, Lester Engelhardt, and Erwin Ruff.
