Funeral services for Atherton S. Wickersheim, 55, World War I veteran and well known farmer of the Giard area, were held at the Schultz funeral home at Monona Wednesday afternoon and at the Giard Methodist church at Giard at 2 p.m. Burial was in the Giard cemetery with the Masonic Order in charge.

Mr. Wickersheim had been in failing health for several years. His illness became critical about two weeks ago. He is survived by his wife, the former Nelda Gray, of Elkader, a daughter, Mrs. Clyde (Irene) Brunskill, Cedar Falls; a nephew, William Wickersheim, who made his home with them, three sisters and a brother, namely: Mrs. Carl (Elda) Lange, LaCrosse, Wis; Mrs. Lester (Alice) Steven, Winona, Minn.; Mrs. Amos (Ruth) Hagensick, Elkader; and John Wickersheim of Davenport, Iowa.
