Mrs. Georgianna Louise Washburn, 72, of Dubuque, a former Elkader resident, died Friday, Aug. 24, at Independence, Iowa, following a long illness.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the Gill chapel at Strawberry Point. Burial was in the Strawberry Point cemetery.

Mrs. Washburn was born May 23, 1879, at Dyersville, Iowa, a daughter of the late Charles F. and Mary Vowels Stallard. She was married to S. C. Washburn on Jan. 16, 1931.

Surviving are her husband, of Dubuque; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Irene) Bowman, of Strawberry Point; two sons of a former marriage, John Goldsmith of Greeley, Iowa; and Fred Goldsmith of Houston, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Francis Fortman, Farley, Iowa; and three grand children. She was preceded in death by one son.
