Funeral services for Mrs. Bertha Klinkenberg were held Saturday, May 25, at 1:30 p.m. at the Witt chapel with the Rev. Paul Kitterer officiating. Burial was at Monona.
Mrs. Bertha Friedericka Lena Klinkenberg, daughter of William and Lena Klinkenberg Schroeder Kurth, was born Jan. 16, 1884, at Salem, S.D., and died May 22, 1957, at St. Olaf.
She was baptized in the Lutheran church at Salem, S.D. At the age of 12 she came with her parents to Wagner township, Clayton county, Iowa.
On June 14, 1901, she was married to Henry Klinkenberg at Farmersburg. After their marriage they moved to the farm which their son, Alvin, now operates and resided there until 1931, when they retired and moved to Monona. For the past six years Mrs. Klinkenberg has lived at St. Olaf.
She was preceded in death by her husband on May 21, 1945, two sisters and one brother.
She is survived by her two sons, Fritz and Alvin, both of St. Olaf; two brothers, Louis Kurth of Waukon, and Walter Kurth of Luana; and one sister, Mrs. Elsie Klema of Elkader; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
