DIED - In Saint Louis, December 28th, 1861, of diptheria, George, infant son of Capt. S.P. and Hattie E. Sladden, aged 5 months and 24 days.

-Parents: Sidney P. Sladden & Harriet 'Hattie' Pocock
-Sidney P. Sladden appears on Mendon twp. draft rolls & tax records in the early 1860s and is listed as a McGregor twp. Grocer in the 1865 Iowa State Gazetteer Business Register. Capt. Sladden served in Co. C, 3rd IA (see Civil War Honor Roll for add'l info. about S.P. Sladden. Also, the father's obit has been posted to this Obituary Board.
