EDGEWOOD: Mrs. Joe Tilp died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Worthy Smith, on Oct. 21, following a long painful illness. She was born on the 13th of October, 1870, and was 71 years of age. She leaves to mourn her passing her husband, Joseph Tilp, and the following children: Mrs. Laura Smith, living west of town; Charles and Frank of Edgewood; Anna, Mrs. Mary Gauvin, Joe Jr., and LeRoy of Dubuque, and Louis of Edgewood; 11 grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Amelia Krog and Miss Jessie Miller of Manchester.
Mrs. Tilp lived many years in this vicinity before moving to Dubuque and has a host of friends and relatives who mourn her death. She was a good wife and mother and the interests of her family was her greatest desire and thought.
Funeral services were held from St. Mark's church on Friday morning with the Rev. J. P. Hammill officiating. Casket bearers were Francis, Alfred and Joe Funk, Ed Putz, Frank Wiley and George Downey. Burial was made in the Strawberry Point cemetery in the old family lot
Attending the services were Mrs. Della Tilp of Garwin, Iowa, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Dell of Waterloo, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Durham of Manchester.
