Anna Mae Baldwin was born to George W. and Stella Pritchard Baldwin of Elgin,, Iowa, August 4, 1914. She grew to womanhood in the Illyria neighborhood sharing in the activities of school and church and in the social life of the community in general.

In September 1943 she was united in marriage with Dr. R.E. Grant of Volga, Iowa, and since that time they have made their home in Volga. Her hospitable nature won many friends.

Her last illness was brief. On Friday morning, Feb. 6, she died at 2:30 a.m. The Gill funeral home at Strawberry Point had charge of the arrangements.

She was preceded in death by one sister and her father and mother. She is survived by her husband and a step-daughter, Suzanne, of Vista, Calif. She also leaves three brothers and one sister, they are: Albert Baldwin of Oelwein, Clarence Baldwin of Oelwein, Clinton Baldwin of Independence, Iowa, and Mrs. Gladys Nutting of Elgin.

The funeral was held at two o'clock Monday afternoon from the Gill chapel to the Illyria church. Friends filled the church. They brought many beautiful floral pieces. A quartet composed of Reynold Strong, Mrs. Floyd Frieden, Mrs. E.G. Steinman and Gerald Shaffer sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide with Me." They were accompanied at the piano by Harold Strong. The Rev. Floyd R. Maynard of Volga preached and read the burial services at the graveside. The casket bearers were: R.E. Candee, Fred Rinkert, Harry Rinkert, Harry Boyeyn, Frank Cox and Owen Radloff.
