Clayton County Register, 10 Oct. 1946.

Elmer Hyde, 54, a former Elkader resident and brother of Roy Hyde, Elkader, died in Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, Sunday of a heart condition. Mr. Hyde, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. James Hyde of this place, had lived in Mt. Vernon for the past six years where he operated a restaurant. Prior to that he lived in Cedar Rapids after leaving Elkader.

Mr. Hyde was well known here as an athlete, having played baseball in this vicinity for several years.

Services were conducted Wednesday morning at the Oelke funeral home. Burial was in St. Joseph's cemetery.
