Funeral services for Lester Seeland, 40, were held from the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William G. Seeland near St. Olaf at 1:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 18, to the Zion Evangelical Lutheran church at Clayton Center at 2 p.m. The Rev. I. H. Zerhusen, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the adjoining cemetery.
Mr. Seeland had been in failing health for the past three years. In April he submitted to an operation at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester. He returned to the home of his parents where he died Monday morning, Sept. 16, having been confined to his bed for about two weeks.
Lester Carl William Seeland was born in Wagner township, March 02, 1906, the son of William G. and Sophia I (Gottschalk) Seeland. He was baptized June 24, 1906 in Zion Evangelical Lutheran church in Clayton Center and was confirmed by the Rev. C. H. Franke at the Evangelical Frieden's church in Elkader on March 02, 1920. He received his education in the rural school of Wagner township; He spent his entire life on the home farm where he assisted his father in farming.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters: Mrs. Lowell (Ruby) Fox, Postville, and Mrs. Leland (Mabel) Lange, Elkader; also two nieces and two nephews, Juanita and Roland Fox, Postville, and Betty Jean and Valdean Lange of Elkader.
Pallbearers were: Clarence Seeland, Harvey Gottschalk, Elmer Gottschalk, Harley Seeland, Harold Lenth, and Willis Gottschalk. Flower girls were Juanita Fox, Mary Ann and Heene Seeland.
