Mrs. Mary Putzier, a pioneer resident of this county, died at the home of her son William, at Bancroft, Tuesday of old age. Mrs. Putzier went from here last fall to reside with her grandson, John Tuecke, at Sheffield, but a short time previous to her death had been staying with her son at Bancroft. The remains arrived here Wednesday night and were interred in the cemetery at Ceres yesterday - Thursday. Services were held in the Ceres church conducted by Rev. Bunge, of Garnavillo.

Christina Levin was born July 18th, 1822, in Meckeritz, Pomerin, Germany. Her parents were Johann Levin and Katherina Dorathea, nee Flinth. In the year 1849 she was married to John Karl Putzier. Eleven children were born to them, but all with the exception of two sons have died. In 1881 she journeyed with her family to this country and lived in Clayton, Ia. Her husband was taken from her through death Sept. 29th, 1902. She then made her home with relatives and later moved to Bancroft, Ia., to live with her son. In April 1903, she went to Sheffield, Ia., and remained at the home of John Tuecke until the time of her death. Her body was brought here for burial and placed beside that of her husband in Ceres cemetery. Rev. Bunge conducted the services. She had reached a good old age and was well known by a number of friends in this vicinity.
