Saturday, Sept. 04, at Sacred Heart church, Miss Catherine Rose Whittle became the bride of Marvin Hoppenworth. The pastor, Father Francis G. Bradshaw, officiated. The bride is the daughter of the John Whittles. Michael Whittle, the bride's brother, and John Orr, served as acolytes at the Mass. Mrs. Ray Sergott of Detroit, Mich., sister of the bride, was matron of honor, and bridesmaid was Mrs. Leonard Dettmar of Tripoli, the groom's sister. Lawrence Whittle was best man, and Patrick Whittle was groomsman, both are brothers of the bride. Ray Sergott of Detroit, and Vernon Quade of Tripoli, ushered.
At the reception in the church parlors, the wedding cake was cut by Irene Whittle and Mary Jane Dinan. Peggy Robinson poured punch, and Margaret Quade poured the coffee and had charge of the guest book.
The bride graduated from the Stanley high school, and has been employed n the offices of the Quaker Oats Co. in Cedar Rapids. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Hoppenworth pf Tripoli, is a graduate of Tripoli high school, and a Korean War veteran. He is associated with the Hunter Flying Service in Cedar Rapids, where the new couple will live.
