The St. John Lutheran church of Guttenberg was the scene, Jan. 03, of the wedding of Miss Marilyn Backes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Backes, to Richard Heiden, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Heiden. The Rev. E. W. Kraemer, pastor, officiated. Miss Judell Walke, the bride's cousin, served as maid of honor, and Richard Koehn was best man. Ushers were Harlan Backes, cousin of the bride, and Cletus Baade, friend of the groom. Mrs. Bertha Walke, grandmother of the bride, was present.

The bride, a senior student at the Guttenberg high school, expects to finish her school year, and the groom, a graduate of Elkader high school, expects to be called into the armed forces in the near future.
