Grimes - Gottschalk marriage - 1956

Miss Elaine Joyce Gottschalk, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer J. Gottschalk of Elkader, and Jackie W. Grimes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse W. Grimes of West Union, were married at Peace Evangelical and Reformed church, Elkader, Nov. 18. The Rev. Paul Kitterer officiated. Miss Jo Ann Glawe of St. Olaf, cousin of the bride, was bridesmaid. Paul Houg, friend of the couple was best man, and ushers were Wayne Grimes and Jerry Dahl of West Union.

A reception for 300 guests was held in the church parlors at which Mrs. Reuben Glawe, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Alonzo Engelhardt served the wedding cake, and Mrs. Milda Tieden, aunt of the bride poured. Assisting at the gifts table were Don and Glen Gottschalk, brothers of the bride.

Mrs. Grimes, a graduate of Elkader high school, attended Elkader junior college and Upper Iowa university at Fayette. She has taught fifth or sixth grades at West Union for the past seven years. Mr. Grimes, a graduate of West Union high school, is employed by the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company.

The couple will live at 117 1/2 North Vine at West Union.
