St. John's church in Guttenberg was the scene Sunday, Oct. 28, of the wedding of Arma Jean Schroeder, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Schroeder of Garnavillo, and Donald Newbern, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Newbern of Elkader. The Rev. E. W. Kraemer officiated. Miss Ann Hoover of Clinton, a friend of the bride, attended as maid of honor, and Mrs. Dean Newbern of Elkader, sister-in-law of the groom, and Miss Patsy Stendel of Sumner, cousin of the bride, attended as bridesmaids. Dean Newbern, brother of the groom, attended as best man, while Garry Schroeder, brother of the bride, and Ed Olson, friend of the groom, served as ushers. Mrs. Paul Haverland, grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Wm. Glawe Sr., grandmother of the groom, were in attendance at the ceremony.

Mrs. Newbern attended Garnavillo high school and Wartburg college. She has taught second grade at Guttenberg for the past two years. The groom attended Elkader high school and has served the past four years with the U.S. Air Force. He is presently employed in Cedar Rapids, where the couple will live at 616 4th Ave. S.E., Apt. C.
