Jirak - Zapf marriage - 1956

JIRAK, ZAPF, PINK, BLONG

At Sacred Heart church in Volga, May 26, occurred the marriage of Miss Eileen Teresa Zapf, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Zapf of Volga, to Gordon E. Jirak, 2542 Washington Street, Dubuque, Iowa, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Jirak of Cresco. The Rev. Karl J. Klein officiated. Miss Geraldine Zapf was her sister's maid of honor, and the groom's sister, Camilla Jirak of Cresco, was the bridesmaid. Richard Jirak of Cresco was his brother's best man, and Arthur Zapf, Milwaukee, Wis., brother of the bride, served as groomsman. Seating the guests were Leon J. Pink, brother-in-law of the bride, and Gerald Blong, cousin of the groom.

The bride is a graduate of Volga high school and Mercy School of Nursing of Dubuque. She has been a registered staff nurse at Xavier hospital in Dubuque since her graduation. The groom is a graduate of Notre Dame high school in Cresco, and served four years in te U.S. Navy. Since his discharge a year ago, he has been employed with the John Deere company in Dubuque.

After a wedding trip in the northern states, Mr. and Mrs. Jirak will be at home in Cedar Falls, where Mr. Jirak will attend Iowa State Teachers college.
