The Norway Lutheran church was the scene of an Easter wedding, Mar. 25, when Miss Phyllis Engelhardt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Englehardt of St. Olaf, became the bride of Harlan Thurn Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Harlan Thurn of Littleport. The Rev. S. J. Strandjord officiated. Miss Ruth Benson, friend of the bride, was maid of honor, and Miss Sharen Engelhardt, cousin of the bride, was the bridesmaid. Miss Ruth Engelhardt of Cedar Rapids presided at the organ. Gary Thurn, brother of the groom, served as best man, and Francis Thurn, cousin of the groom, acted as groomsman. Ushers were Duane Engelhardt, brother of the bride, and Gene Stence, friend of the couple. Mrs. Frank Engelhardt, paternal grandmother of the bride, and Mrs. Lloyd Nelson, maternal grandmother of the groom, were present for the ceremony.
At the reception in the church parlors, Mrs. Wendell Engelhardt, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. Leighton Nelson, aunt of the groom, cut and served the cake, while Mrs. Donald Elvers, aunt of the bride, and Mrs. William Schmidt, aunt of the groom, poured.
Mr. and Mrs. Thurn are both graduates of Elkader high school. Mrs. Thurn was previously employed at the Farmers State Bank in St. Olaf. Mr. Thurn is now employed in Rockford, Ill., where the couple will make their home.
