In Response To: burial of Addington family (Edd Marks)

John L. Addington appears to have been initially buried in Lakewood Cemetery in Minneapolis and then removed to the Woodland Cemetery in Des Moines, Iowa where his wife was buried in 1901.

The following obituaries appeared for both of them:

J. L. Addington, a resident of this county and publisher of the Webb Record for twenty-five years died last Friday in Minneapolis in his seventieth year. John L. Addington was born in eastern Indiana, October 8, 1856 the son of a Methodist minister. He came to Iowa In 1864 and for a time lived in Davenport. Later he removed to Hardin county, Iowa. In 1875 he started teaching in Grundy county, and he afterwards taught in Des Moines and was principal at Alton, Iowa, Filley, Nebraska, and Narka, Kansas. He was twenty-two years in the public schools and for fifteen years of that time conducted newspapers at Filley and Narka.

In 1900 he came to Webb and founded the Record, which he continued to publish until within a few weeks of his death. When the failure of his health compelled him to give up his newspaper work he sold the Record last month to Rev. L. L.
Smith of Webb, who is now publishing it. He was post master at Webb from 1908 until a few weeks ago.

In 1881 he was married to Miss Mary Crist of Wisconsin. Eight children were born to them, of whom the following survive. Miss Marion Addington, Mrs. Grace Ringbloom of Minneapolis, Miss Doris Addington of Webb, John L. and Charles
T. Addington of Minneapolis. Mrs. Addington died in 1901. Mr. Addington was a Mason of many years standing and a charter member of Perfection Lodge 51 at Webb. Funeral services were conducted Monday by Rev. E. M. Stanworth of Lake Crystal, for five years pastor at Webb.

In all these activities he was a conscientious doer of good deeds and it has been frequently said of Mr. Addington that he boasted as many friends as any man in Clay county. During his last illness he never complained. He saw beauty in all the flowers around him. He loved the outdoors. He loved humanity. His passing is sincerely regretted by all who knew him. The Record is at the present time under the management of Rev. L. L. Smith, pastor of the Baptist church at Webb and Sioux Rapids.
