Wife of John Hodges, died in Keokuk, June 27, 1903. She was the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aaron Newell, and was born in Clarke county, Iowa in 1861. She was married to John Hodges April 3, 1886. Her entire life was spent in Clarke and Decatur counties.

She was converted in the United Brethren church at Round Knoll in the winter of '86. Her membership was transferred to the M.E. church at Weldon in 1888, where she has since been an active member.

She had been a sufferer for the past five or six months, and was taken to the hospital at Keokuk on Thursday, to undergo an operation, but she did not survive the shock.

Her death comes as a great shock to the community. She leaves a husband, mother, five sisters and two brothers, who have the deep sympathy of a large circle of friends.
The funeral was held in this city Tuesday June 30th, the sermon being preached by Rev. Doyle. Interment was made at Green Bay cemetery.
