STATE NEWS
It is reported that a man named Joseph Jacobs shot Dr. Lucas at Hopeville, Clark Co., on the 9th day of August inst. It seems that Dr. had threatened the life of Jacobs and went back to his house for the purpose of putting his threat into execution, when the intended victim “turned the tables” slightly, killed Lucas, and surrendered himself to the authorities.
