Matthew Hyndman was born in the county of Antrim, Ireland, May 1, 1829. He came to Canada in the year 1855, and was married to Elizabeth Bryans at Owen Sound, Can., Feb. 12, 1871. They came to Marcus, Ia., on the 28th of February, 1871. They lived at Marcus thirty-two years, moving to Cherokee two years ago where he spent the remainder of his life, passing away Jan 27, 1905.

The deceased was 76 years old. He leaves a widow and nine children, Martha, Mrs. Annie Miller of Rensen, Iowa; Robert, Elizabeth, Mathew, Margaret, Sarah, Malcolm and John, two having gone before. He leaves also two brothers, William and John Hyndman of Marcus, Iowa; and two sisters Mrs. M. McGregor of Owen Sound, Can., and Miss Charlotte Hyndman of Newburgh, N. Y.
