John Bruce Rowe (2239).

Born September l9th, 1847. Was educated at Cornell College, Iowa. He removed to Cherokee county, Iowa, about 1873; had before followed fanning and teaching school, and continued teaching in Cherokee county, in the town of Marcus, but finally settled on a farm, where he continued until 1890. He then removed to Tacoma, Washington, where he still resides. lie is a devout Methodist, prominent Sunday-school leader, a lover of books, papers and music; enjoys public activity; hits a large sense of the advanced idea in morals, polities and education.
