Funeral services for Eugene "Buzz" Weiland, 41, Stanwood, were held March 15, 1997 at St. Mary's Catholic church in Mechanicsville, with Rev. William Meyer officiating. Tracy Pearson was the organist and pallbearers were Jay, Randy and Richard Weiland, James Ainsworth, Tim Tighe, David Litscher, Harold Goldsmith, Robert Dircks, Steve Kirkpatrick and Dennis Coppess. Burial was in the Stanwood cemetery.

Mr. Weiland died suddenly March 12 at work in rural Clarence.

The son of Leonard and Mary Koch Weiland, he was born Oct. 3, 1955 in Norfolk, Neb. He graduated from Lincoln high school in 1973. He married Arlene Miner Nov. 28, 1980 in Mechanicsville.

He was an employee of Dircks Farms, Inc., Clarence.

He enjoyed reading anything concerning farming and he loved to collect toy tractors.

Mr. Weiland is survived by his wife; a daughter, Chelsea and a son, Kyle, both at home; his parents of Stanwood; a grandmother, Rose Hoffmann, Battle Creek, Neb.; a sister, Betty and husband Kevin Wright, Tipton; 3 brothers, Tom and wife Dawn, Stanwood; Chuck and wife Kathy, Remsen; and Mike and wife Angie, Cedar Rapids; and his mother-in-law Ferne Miner, Mechanicsville.
